Black Panther is one of the most successful Marvel movies to date, and the good news is that fans are going back to the fictional land of Wakanda. It has been confirmed the Black Panther 2 is happening, and its official release date was already announced.

Even before Black Panther 2 was given thumbs up, Marvel President Kevin Feige has already hinted the sequel is "absolutely" going to happen. It's not surprising there's a follow-up movie happening, considering it broke records for the superhero genre.

During the Comic-Con, Feige confirmed the arrival of the second movie and Black Panther 2 is taking its time to make sure it would be a worthy sequel. At the D23 Expo, it was officially announced the follow-up movie would be arriving on May 6, 2020, which makes it to the part of Phase 5 of one of the final movie of Phase 4.

Ryan Coogler will return to the director's chair and will also write the sequel, and he's going to bring the original creative cast. That only means Chadwick Boseman returns as the titular character/T'Challa, alongside Angela Bassett (as Ramonda), Winston Duke (M'Baku), Daniel Kaluuya (W'Kabi), Lupita Nyong'o (Nakia), and Danai Gurira (Okoye).

As for the potential villain in Black Panther 2, comic book fans might be familiar with the name Namor the Sub-Mariner. Marvel fans speculated this character might be the new villain in the sequel - who's one of T'Challa's nemeses in the comics. Fans have the names of the actors who should play the role, and Keanu Reeves becomes one of the fan favorites to portray the villain.

But, others are also rooting for Michael B Jordan's Erik Killmonger to return as the antagonist in the sequel. While it's unlikely that he will return, we also know that nothing is impossible in the superhero world, and Feige said: "It's too early to say and nothing is set yet in any way that far." Thus, there's still a chance the villain will return in the follow-up movie, and Jordan also told MTV that he is open to reprising his role.

While nothing is confirmed yet about the plot of Black Panther 2, fans quickly speculated what's next for the warriors of Wakanda. As mentioned, Namor might be the new villain in the sequel and rumors claim this villain will attach Wakanda. The nemesis MCU debut on the follow-up movie is very likely, especially after he was alluded to in Avengers: Endgame.
