Queen Elizabeth II reportedly follows strict routines when it comes to her daily life, and even though she has the best chef, the monarch still enjoys "unusually ordinary food" for breakfast.
Queen Elizabeth starts her day early and follows a pattern for her food and drink. While some might think Her Majesty enjoys lavish dining with expensive ingredients, the monarch reportedly chooses foods which could be easily found in the average supermarket.
So, what does Her Majesty have for breakfast? The monarch reportedly begins her morning with a freshly brewed pot of Earl Grey tea and takes it without sugar or milk, and then it was usually accompanied by a few biscuits. The Queen is reportedly ready to have her breakfast - often consist of cereal and biscuit - after her morning bath.
In a report via The Telegraph, Special K is said to be the favorite cereal of Queen Elizabeth, and she instructs her royal staff to put it in a Tupperware box, as she believes the cereal will stay fresh longer when stored on that particular container. Prince Philip, on the other hand, reportedly listens to his Roberts radio while eating his breakfast, which includes light and dark marmalades, as well as a carton of yogurt.
Speaking to Marie Claire, former royal Chef Darren McGrady said the monarch's breakfast was very simple, which only consist of Kellogg's cereal from a plastic container and some Darjeeling tea. But aside from the cereal, Queen Elizabeth sometimes chooses to have marmalade and toast, or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and truffle.
McGrady also revealed Queen Elizabeth isn't a foodie and explained the monarch "eats to live," while Prince Philip loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day, as reported by The Telegraph. The former royal chef also added that Her Majesty is very disciplined when she dines on her own, and one of the rules when it comes to food is that there shouldn't be starch.
Meanwhile, foods usually used by the royal family are granted royal warrants, which are reportedly issued by senior royals. The warrants reward British products of high excellence and quality, and they also bear the royal coat of arms of whichever Royal Family member awarded it. Some of the brands that hold royal warrants include Weetabix, Kellogg's, and Quaker Oats.
Other food brands granted royal warrants include pantry staples Heinz, as well as luxury chocolate makers Charbonnel et Walker. But not only food is being granted a warrant, as tradesmen, clothing shops, and businesses can also get such honor.
