Serena Williams powered her way into the US Open semi-finals. She is really at her best this season.

During the second set of a US Open victory, Williams rolled her right ankle. It was all fine when she took an awkward step while up at the net for a volley, which made her tumble to the ground. For a second, she looks as if her chances are ruined, sitting right there in the middle of Arthur Ashe Stadium, as reported by Globe and Mail.

Not only is that not true now, but it also appears that she is not even troubled by it now as she beat 18th-seeded Qiang Wang of China. What is more impressive about this win is that not only was it achieved with an injury on her part but also because she did it in a mere 44 minutes. The match ended with 6-1, 6-0, evidencing the dominance of Williams.

Williams is now a move closer to her 24th Grand Slams singles trophy, as reported by ESPN. Of course, if anyone knows Williams, she is not one to be too complacent no matter how confident she is of her skills.

When Ashleigh Barty and Karolina Pliskova lost last time on their respective matches, which contributed to her path towards the Grand Slam title, Williams said she would never look at their losses that way.

"I can't afford to look at it that way. Every single match I have played, people come, and they play their best. The women that I play are not generally playing at this level against other players in the locker room, so for me, I have to be the greatest, whether it's against the second seed, the No. 1 seed, or the No. 80th player in the world," Williams said. "I have to show up, or else I'm going to go home," she added.

This was before her match with Wang Qiang. She certainly showed up.

Why people even worry about her right ankle issue hampering her way to her desired title is surprising. It is not as if this is her first injury or health issue this season. She had several, one of which ended her stay at the Australia Open. However, she proved over and over again that she could make a comeback.

Some claimed that Wang did not really have a chance against Williams. Wang's win against French Open champion Barty was surprising enough at 6-2, 6-4. This allowed Wang to play in the fourth round at a major, which was her first time.
