At present, Serena Williams is still the better woman compared to Maria Sharapova, at least when it comes to women's tennis. For the 19th time in a row, Williams crashed Sharapova in a match.

The momentous event happened as early as in the second set. Facing a breakpoint, Williams executed a backhand passing shot so good that not only can Sharapova not reach it, it also establishes who is the better player. At least today.

The shot was so good because of the power and precision it involved, Sharapova could not stop the ball from landing it. Williams, knowing her ball got through, raised a clenched left fist toward the sky, knowing victory is hers.

Even though this is the 19th time now, Williams is never going to be complacent against Sharapova, knowing she's as good. Every time I come up against her, I just bring out some of my best tennis," Williams said, as reported by ESPN.

Interesting with this match is that the victory was attained with no drama or fanfare at all, so usual for women's tennis. The whole match lasted for 59 minutes. It was just a perfect performance for Williams. She garnered twice as many points against Sharapova, 58-28. In addition, she was able to save all five breakpoints that she faced. In addition, her serves were made with as high as 115 mph.

Williams, though not underestimating Sharapova, knew how perfect her delivery in this match. "I always said her ball somehow lands in my strike zone,'' Williams revealed. "I don't know. It's just perfect for me.," she added.

Sharapova is naturally disappointed with herself, but she's not sweating it, as reported by WTA Tennis. Her trust in herself is unbroken, and for her, that is what all that matters. After the match, Sharapova said that at the end of the day, she believes in her ability, and that is enough. She also said that certainly, people could write her off, given what Williams achieved.

She admitted that going down at 6-1, 6-1, it is understandable why some people would start doubting her skills. However, she said as long as "it's not the person that's inside of you," she's fine.

Williams's win is made more remarkable by the fact that she faced back problems just recently. When she arrived at Flushing Meadows for this match, she was asked about the spasms that flared up earlier this month that compelled her to stop playing during the final round of a tournament and even withdraw from another.

She assured everyone that she feels really good and that her body is fine. She certainly showed it.
