After five years of waiting, The Boondocks is now returning. However, many of the fans are confused with its comeback. And it's all because no one knows how the show will return, whether it's going to be the fifth season or a reboot of the animated series.
In an interview with the show's voice-cast member, John Witherspoon, who plays the role of Grandad, "spilled" the tea about the show. And as per his statements, The Boondocks will certainly return.
The statements made by Witherspoon on the podcast interview raised a lot of questions. This is because it's officially the first time that the fans have heard about the show in almost five years. So, it indeed made the avid viewers happy and excited about the show.

As it happened, Season 4 premiered even without McGruder and Sony Animation behind the screen. And per the fans, the fourth season provided a very different approach in terms of its course and plot, which only justified McGruder's absence. But after the finale, nothing much was heard if the show will return.
It is only recently that the talks of The Boondocks Season 5 have emerged. And these talks largely pointed out that Aaron McGruder will also be back to spearhead the upcoming series, along with Sony Animation.

Even the series producers are very careful in not spilling any detail about the show.
