A lot of familiar faces are making their way to Arrow Season 8. Aside from John Barrowman and Josh Segarra, Byron Mann will also be seen in the last and final installment of the superhero television series to reprise his role as Yao Fei. But how will their return happen?
According to Deadline, Yao Fei used to be Oliver's mentor when he was struggling to find himself. However, it remains to be seen how the master archer will make his way to Star City now that he is dead.
To recall, When Oliver was trapped on the island of Lian Yu, another stranded Yao Fei taught him archery in Season 1. They became friends during their time on the island, but Edward Fyers (Sebastian Dunn) ended up killing him.
But as bringing a dead character seems to be a regular thing the show does, it will surely find a way to bring Yao Fei back to life in Arrow Season 8. This may not be the end that the series will announce returning characters as it comes to a close.
Aside from Yao Fei, Malcolm Merlyn (Barrowman), and Adrian Chase (Segarra), fans also hope to see Manu Bennett's return as Slade Wilson. There are also clamors for Emily Bett Rickards' comeback as Felicity Smoak in the final season; although the 28-year-old star said she is already satisfied with the end of her character's story, per CarterMatt.
We Got This Covered noted these characters' return is ignited by Oliver's mission for The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett). By the looks of it, he may send Oliver to different points in time or other alternative universes that will make him meet old friends and foes. These turn of events are expected to have something to do with Crisis on Infinite Earths, which may feature the death of the Green Arrow.
Arrow Season 8 is expected to continue its tradition of flash-forwards, CinemaBlend reported. Although Oliver will work alongside The Monitor in the present, the future will remain in the hands of the New Team Arrow and his children, William (Ben Lewis) and Mia (Katherine McNamara).
As the last and final season seems to be more focusing on 2040, Team Arrow 2.0 will have a lot of time to be dealing with personal stuff and tying all the loose ends. Arrow Season 8 is set to be out on Tuesday, Oct. 15, on The CW.
