Kate Middleton became part of the royal family after marrying Prince William in 2011. But even though she's been part of the family for almost a decade, a royal expert claimed the Duchess of Cambridge has a "distant relationship" with Queen Elizabeth II for this reason.

Kate Middleton is said to be one of the most popular members of the royal family. Despite that, she and Queen Elizabeth's relationship are, reportedly, not that close. Majesty Magazine's editor-in-chief, Ingrid Seward, claimed the monarch and the Duchess of Cambridge do not have an "intimate relationship."

"The Queen admires Kate tremendously but does not have an intimate relationship with her as they don't have much in common," Seward told Fabulous Digital.

Instead, the two royal ladies have "more serious relationship" since the Duchess of Cambridge holds Her Majesty's hope in the future. Thus, she would not want to do anything to upset that, as per Seward. When her husband Prince William takes over the throne, Kate Middleton will reportedly receive the title, Queen Consort.

The two ladies do have something in common, which is their royal duties. But aside from that, Seward said Middleton and Queen Elizabeth's common bond would be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children. However, Seward added that she couldn't imagine the Queen spending too much time talking about them.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth is reportedly fond of her another granddaughter-in-law, Meghan Markle. Seward claimed that with Prince Harry's wife, Her Majesty does her best to make her feel at home. The monarch and the Duchess of Sussex also have something in common, which is the love of dogs.

The royal expert also said Meghan Markle knows how to make the Queen laugh. In fact, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wedding in May 2018, Her Majesty and the former actress went on their first royal engagement together in June 2018.

The bond between Markle and Queen Elizabeth seemed to be close. Markle was even spotted giggling and whispering into Her Majesty's ear as they watched the children performing during the opening of a bridge across the River Mersey in Widnes.

And aside from their close bond, Queen Elizabeth reportedly broke royal traditions for the Duchess of Sussex on several occasions. For instance, Her Majesty first broke a royal tradition for Markle back in 2017. The Queen welcomed the former Suits actress as Prince Harry's fiancé into the royal family's Christmas celebration.
