CBS will introduce a new legal drama that centers to a female rookie judge as she navigates her new role at the bench. All Rise will be led by Luke Cage actress Simone Missick, who will portray the lead role of a newly appointed Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Lola Carmichael.

The new TV series will follow the chaotic and, sometimes, absurd lives of judges, prosecutors, and public defenders as they work with other players in the judicial system such as bailiffs, clerks, and cops to get justice for the people of LA amidst a flawed legal process.

Missick's character is described to be a highly regarded and impressive deputy district attorney. But, she doesn't intend to sit back on the bench in her new role. Instead, she immediately pushes boundaries and challenges the expectations of what a judge can be, which will gain her the nickname, "The Lolacoaster."

In the recently released official trailer for the series, Carmichael's judicial assistant, Sherri Kansky (Ruthie Ann Miles), is seen informing her new boss about the name that the people in court have been calling the new judge. Sherri explains to Carmichael that she is now called the "Lolacoaster" because no one knows where the ride the judge is driving would lead.

Aside from her assistant Sherri, judge Carmichael will also be working with her best friend and colleague, Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel), who is a successful deputy district attorney that has some issues in his personal and professional relationship. Supervisory Judge Lisa Benner (Marg Helgenberger), an influential and powerful figure, on the other hand, will oversee Lola's transition into her new job.

Carmichael will also meet Emily Lopez (Jessica Camacho), an empathetic but blunt public defender, who is filled with fire and conviction; Luke Watkins (J. Alex Brinson), a court bailiff by day and law student by night; and Sara Castillo (Lindsay Mendez), a court reporter. Bridesmaid actor Mitch Silpa has also, recently, joined the cast as Clayton Baker, who is a shrewd Deputy District Attorney that is willing to do everything to get ahead.

All Rise creator Greg Spottiswood earlier said that his main character, Lola Carmichael, will not be an unrealistic, perfect woman as many expected of the role. Spottiswood revealed, during the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer event, that he wanted a character that could make mistakes but would still "speak from her heart and fight for justice."

Lola Carmichael's new adventure as a rookie judge will begin when All Rise premieres on September 23 at 9/8c on CBS. Stay tuned only here at Business Times for more updates about All Rise.
