WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Legacies season 2. Read at your own risk.
Legacies season 2 is set to premiere earlier next month, and fans will be seeing another familiar face when the new installment arrives. It was previously revealed that The Originals alum Riley Voelkel will appear in the second season as Freya Mikaelson.
According to TV Guide, Voelkel will guest star in Legacies season 2, and she will reprise her old character, Freya. The actress will, reportedly, appear in the sixth episode of the upcoming installment, though details about how and why she's coming remain scarce.
Considering the events happened in the season 1 finale, there's a chance Freya doesn't even remember Hope exists. But, then, Voelkel's character will appear in episode 6. So, Hope may have already made her way back into the Salvatore School by that time.
Voelkel isn't the first alumni of either The Originals or The Vampire Diaries to show up in the series, and, likely, she won't be the last. Throughout the first season of Legacies, Zach Roerig had a recurring role, while Steven R. McQueen has a cameo as Jeremy Gilbert.
Executive producer Julie Plec also told TVLine that Legacies has an "open door" policy when it comes to beloved characters from the main show. There's a plan Voelkel will join the series earlier than the second season. However, due to a scheduling conflict with Roswell, New Mexico made it difficult for her to appear.
Meanwhile, as for what other things to expect, Legacies season 2 will kick off with Hope in great peril. The first season left a game-changing finale; Hope found her purpose in life, but that purpose means she has to sacrifice herself and her existence will be erased.
The second season will see Hope being separated from the world that she loves, and most people of this world have no clear memory of who she is. Hopefully, Hope comes back in the world when Freya arrives. By that time, she'll be the one who could help Hope or hone more of her magical abilities.
Danielle Rose Russell returns as Hope in Legacies season 2, while Matt Davis is set to come back as Alaric Saltzman. Other returning cast members include The Vampire Diaries alum Candice King (as teacher Caroline Forbes), Quincy Fouse (Milton MG Gladstone), and Peyton Alex Smith (Rafael).
Legacies season 2 will premiere on Thursday, October 10, at 9 p.m. ET on the CW. Voelkel's episode, on the other hand, is expected to air either November or December.
