The premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is only a few months away, but fans are still hoping to get a better look at what is set to be one of the biggest films of 2019. Unfortunately, there is no new trailer for Star Wars Episode 9 just yet. However, a newly released image from The Rise of Skywalker offers a glimpse at Rey preparing to fight Kylo Ren. Interestingly, the weapon she wields is not the scary red lightsaber that was featured in the film's previous trailer.
Fans were understandably concerned about Rey when new footage from Star Wars Episode 9 was unveiled at the recent D23 Expo 2019. In the teaser, there is a fleeting glimpse at the girl from Jakku wearing a black Jedi robe and wielding a double-edged red lightsaber. It's almost a confirmation that Rey will turn to the Dark Side in The Rise of Skywalker. However, a new picture of Rey from the movie shows that she's still in touch with the Light Side of the Force.
The photo was shared by the official Star Wars Twitter account, and it features Rey in what appears to be the same scene where she is standing in the desert waiting for Kylo Ren's attack in the first The Rise of Skywalker trailer. Interestingly, she appears to be holding her lightsaber with the blade pointing behind her, and the best part is, her lightsaber appears to be white. You can see the post here.
The fight between Rey and Kylo Ren was teased in the first trailer for Star Wars Episode 9, but it looks like there's an even bigger duel happening in the film. Although the first fight takes place in the desert, the second battle sees the two characters facing off on top of a ship while waves are rising below them.
There are speculations that the first fight will take place on Tatooine, the planet where Luke Skywalker grew up in. On the other hand, the second lightsaber duel is believed to happen back in Ahch-To, where Luke chose to isolate himself after his Jedi Temple was destroyed. Either way, both battles are expected to take place in truly important locations. However, it is unclear which fight will happen first in Star Wars Episode 9.
Will Rey stay with the Light Side, or will she end up joining the Dark Side of the Force? The truth will be revealed when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
