It cannot be denied that Lee Min Ho is one of the most sought-after actors of his generation. As a matter of fact, the 32-year-old actor-singer continue to make headlines even during his mandatory military service. Now that he is finally done with his patriotic activity, avid followers of the City Hunter star is now thrilled for his upcoming comeback to the small screens.

During an Instagram Live on August 23, Lee Min Ho hinted some details about his imminent new project called The King: The Eternal Monarch, which would soon be aired on SBS network. At the time, the former boyfriend of Vagabond actress Suzy Bae revealed that the script was already out. He even said that it would start airing in March 2020.

Things went more interesting when Lee Min Ho teased that he would become the "king of romance" in the forthcoming new television series. In other words, The King: The Eternal Monarch could have several romantic scenes, especially between the lead characters Emperor Lee Gon, who would be played by Lee Min Ho, and detective Jung Tae Eul, who would be played by Kim Go Eun. The South Korean star even vowed to "work hard" to make sure that his fans would happy with the imminent new series.

On September 17, Lee Min Ho and the rest of the cast members, reportedly, started the production process for The King: The Eternal Monarch with a script reading somewhere in Sangam in northwest Mapo District in Seoul City, South Korea. No other details have been released as of yet. But, it was revealed that the filming for Min Ho's new project would begin in the second half of the year.

For starters, the upcoming The King: The Eternal Monarch series would center on the story of two people from two parallel universes of democracy and monarchy. The character of Lee Min Ho, Emperor Lee Gon, would try to close the door between the two worlds while Kim Go Eun's detective Jung Tae Eul would work with the emperor to protect the lives of her loved ones.

Aside from Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun, other artists set to appear on The King: The Eternal Monarch include Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam, and Jung Chae. Lee Jung Jin is said to portray a yet-to-be-revealed supporting role. Baek Sang Hoon would be taking the director's chair while Kim Eun Sook is going to write its script.

For starters, Kim Eun Sook is the brain behind hit dramas Descendants of the Sun, which starred Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, The Heirs, which starred Min Ho and Park Shin Hye, and Goblin, which starred Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook.
