After the cancellation fears, Blindspot Season 5 will be in the works. NBC renewed the show for its last and final season to tie all the loose ends and answer the questions about the previous season's major cliffhanger.

The two-hour Season 4 finale showed Madeline (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) blew up the cabin where Jane (Jaimie Alexander), Weller (Sullivan Stapleton), Patterson (Ashley Johnson), Reade (Rob Brown), and Zapata (Audrey Esparza) stayed in. Jane was the only one who survived, and it remained to be seen what would happen to the rest's future.

Will Jane's husband and friends survive the explosion? According to Deadline, there are a lot of problems this group is about to face. Aside from the ordeal and clearing their name after Madeline set them up, the latter has the control of FBI, putting Jane and the rest of the group on the run. Rich (Ennis Esmer) is also held against his will in a black ops site, which adds up to the problem.

Creator Martin Gero revealed Blindspot Season 5 would be featuring a two-month time jump. However, fans don't have to worry as they would still see what happened to Jane and the rest of the group in a series of flashbacks. By the looks of it, the team would continue to clean their names, although some of them might not have survived the blast.

"It would be safe to assume that not everyone makes it out of that safe house alive," Gero told TVLine. If anyone survives, Gero teased they would be more bonded closer together that they have never been before. There will also be a big moment for Jane as she will figure out the terrible things she has done in the past.

In Blindspot Season 5, she will understand Remi is not a different person, but a part of her. Now, fans need to see how she will draw her past experiences as a terrorist, and when she worked in kidnap and ransom to "operate outside the law for a greater good."

There will also be tension come the new season. After Madeline set them up, the group has nowhere to go and don't even have family or friends. They have to resolve things because of the close quarters they work in. Gero added that although fans love the show for what it is, they have to put some problems for storytelling purposes.

"We've always needed to keep some of them at odds with each other for inner conflict and all that," he said. "But now, for the ones that can make it out, there's going to be a great unity and a great common purpose of." Blindspot Season 5 is expected to be out in 2020 on NBC.
