Jackie Chan can literally do everything. He can do action, comedy, drama, and even musical on screen. To top it all, he was also able impress the legendary stars of his time, such as Bruce Lee.
Chan has been hurt countless times throughout his career as an action movie superstar. But, there is one action scene he will never forget, not only because he was hurt but also because Bruce Lee holds him. For Jackie Chan, he would like to do again if only the other person in the scene is alive -- Bruce Lee.
The Lee family shared the video of Chan in total fanboy mode amidst the controversy about Bruce Lee's portraying in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In the clip, Chan talks about the time he met and worked with the Fist of Fury actor for the very first time. It was a scene for Enter The Dragon.
In the scene, young Jackie Chan is just one of the goons that Lee will have to fight with. However, Lee accidentally hit him in the face with a stick during a staged fight.
Chan recalled that he went dizzy when he was hit, and when he looked at Lee, the iconic actor continues to act. But, as soon as the director shouted "cut," Lee turned around and ran over to check on Chan.
The Rush Hour actor said Lee apologized to him. Chan added that, at the time, he was a much younger and tough. However, he pretended to be in pain the whole day so Lee would hold him longer.
"I was not in pain anymore. I was a young guy and very tough. But I pretended to be in pain so that Bruce Lee holds me for as long as he can. I kept pretending the whole day," Chan revealed.
The video of Jackie Chan has been released by Lee's family after the actor's character has been put in question after the actor was portrayed in the 2019 drama-thriller film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee's family and friends were not pleased with how the character was written in the movie.
Lee's daughter, Shannon, slammed Tarantino for portraying her father as an "arrogant a##hole" in Hollywood. Prior to the release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Shannon Lee has criticized Tarantino for not reaching out to her about using her father in the film.
During a press conference for the film in Russia, Tarantino addressed the controversy and defended the writing of the character. He added that, in his opinion, Lee was actually "kind of an arrogant guy." Tarantino's statement was also criticized by Lee's family and friends.
Inhumans actor Mike Moh portrays Lee in an extended in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood film. In the movie, he faces off with Brad Pitt character, Cliff Booth, on the set of The Green Hornet.
