Buck (played by Oliver Stark) and little boy Christopher (played by Gavin McHugh), the special needs son of Eddie (played by Ryan Guzman), had the shock of their lives when 9-1-1 season 3 premiered on FOX on Monday, Sept. 23. At the end of the first episode, the two, along with hundreds of other people, stared out into the ocean as a massive tsunami is about to hit the Santa Monica Pier.
The natural disaster's devastation will actually play out in 9-1-1 season 3 episode 2 airing next week, Sept. 30. But, will Buck and Christopher be safe?
According to the episode synopsis of 9-1-1 season 3 episode 2, Buck and Christopher's lives are definitely going to be in danger. Photos released by FOX, however, suggest that Buck will survive the initial wave, but he seems to be reaching out to something or someone. Could it be Christopher?
A second photo from 9-1-1 season 3 episode 2 shows Buck carrying and holding Christopher real tight. It might be safe to bet that the two survived the tsunami, but details to episode 3 might send the little boy's dad on a tailspin.
Apparently, Christopher will go missing in 9-1-1 season 3 episode 3, which will air on Oct. 7. It can be assumed that there will be a second wave of tsunami pulling more people underwater.
9-1-1 season 3 showrunner Tim Minear confirmed with The Wrap that the tsunami devastation would take two episodes to tell. The cast and crew went to Mexico to safely film the flooding and replicated that iconic pier.
"When you see Buck and Christopher being pulled down the rapids in the middle of a street in Santa Monica, that's [the actors] in the water," Minear said.
The showrunner also dished that 9-1-1 season 3 episode 2 and 3 will be told from different perspectives. He did confirm that there will be more than one tsunami; thus, confirming the speculation that Christopher will go missing after the second wave.
Meanwhile, the rest of Station 118, including Christopher's dad, will be saving lives and rescuing those in need in 9-1-1 season 3. A new character will also be introduced in the second episode, which will be played by pro-wrestler Ronda Rousey.
9-1-1 season 3 airs Monday nights at 8:00 on FOX.
