It can't be denied that Shawn Mendes is a fan of Selena Gomez. Some fans even ship these two, although the Canadian singer is now linked to Camila Cabello. However, news emerged there is something about the "Señorita" hitmaker that he doesn't want Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend to know.
During a fan Q&A, via Capital FM, Mendes revealed he also loved watching Disney Channel just like everybody else his age when he was young. One of his favorites was Wizards of Waverly, which starred none other than Gomez herself.
However, he doesn't want Gomez to know about it. "Don't tell Selena, though!" he said.
Some might find it strange that Mendes was watching Gomez on the screen while growing up. But, despite his achievements and success, fans need to be reminded he is only 21-years-old. The "I Can't Get Enough" singer, on the other hand, is now 27-years-old and had appeared on the series when she was only 15 years of age, from 2007 to 2012.
Mendes' honesty is just one of the many reasons fans love him. He can openly talk about everything and anything, from the girl he wants to date to how he writes his songs. The famed singer also listens to his fans, who want some certain songs to be added on his setlist.
Mendes started to be known as a singer, songwriter, and model. He began to have a cult following when he was posting song covers on the video-sharing app Vine in 2013. After a year, artist manager Andrew Gertler and Island Records A&R Ziggy Chareton discovered his talent.
He, then, signed a deal with the record label and became the Mendes that everybody now knows. Since then, he has released three studio albums, headlined three world tours, and received several awards and nominations.
Gomez, alternatively, has been in the business since she was young. She started to be seen on Barney and Friends, Disney Channel shows, and eventually became one of the great singers of today. She even made headlines when she had a relationship with another pop star, Bieber. However, their relationship didn't last that long.
It remains to be seen if Gomez and Mendes will be given a chance to work together. If this happens, a lot of fans will surely celebrate. As some of them are rooting for this two, will it ever happen despite the six-year age gap? We'll see.
