WARNING: This article contains spoilers and predictions for The Resident Season 3.
After months of waiting, The Resident Season 3 premiere finally revealed who died in Chastain Park. Within the first 30 seconds, it has been known that Nic's sister, Jessie, did not make it, which leaves their father, Kyle, in a safe condition.
Jessie has been suffering in a fatal disease for the better half of Season 2. Her death is pretty much expected already despite her and Nic's efforts to alleviate the situation.
The first episode focused on Nic's efforts to overcome the loss, along with her father, Kyle. As per TV Line, the family's inability to move forward, especially on Nic's part, has played an integral role at the beginning of the season. It's because of their future actions toward the matter that will move the center storylines of The Resident Season 3.
In the previous installment, fans have witnessed how Red Rock Mountain Medical was able to obtain authority over Chastain Park. With their goals of profiting instead of helping patients in need, Nic's free clinic is now closed.
Per Cartermatt, this will help Nic get back on track; having a new thing to fight for will cause her to overcome grief and loss. While, of course, this is going to be a long way for her, the previews hint that Nic is now trying to.
The Resident Season 3 Episode 2 reveals that Nic will set up a surprise for Conrad. Given this kind of plans, it seems that she will take a step-by-step process to heal.
As for Kyle, it is hinted that he's feeling a little off about her daughter's death. While her illness is basically the reason behind, Kyle asks for an autopsy report from Conrad. He wants it done without alarming Nic. So, it seems that there is more to Jessie's death than what is initially depicted on the premiere.
Eloise's return to Chastain Park is also shown. While nothing much has happened except for the doctors' treatment of her as a patient-in-care, she reminds everyone that she is now an intern. Fans are convinced that she is about to play a major role in the upcoming episodes of The Resident Season 3.
The second episode titled, Flesh of My Flesh, will also welcome new characters, Lamar Broome and Adaku Eze. No further information has been given about their roles, but the next episode will surely reveal.
The Resident Season 3 Episode 2 will air on October 1, on FOX.
