Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continuously receive criticism the way they hide their child, Prince Archie, from the public's eye. Prince William and Kate Middleton did the same thing for their three kids. But, why didn't they receive the same flak as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did? Do people favor Prince William more than Prince Harry?

Prince William revealed, in 2016, he was worried for the future of his children. At the time, Prince Louis was not born yet. He, then, decided to move to Anmer Hall with his family for good.

People saw the Duke of Cambridge's decision as a move to take his family away from the limelight. However, in a report by Vanity Fair, royal expert Katie Nicholl claimed a palace source revealed it was for the safety of his family. "It is this worry, say, friends, which lies behind the Cambridges' controversial decision to hide away from the public gaze in Norfolk," she said.

In an interview with BBC, Prince William explained he is seriously taking his role as a father to his kids. "I'm a new father, and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously, and I want to bring my children up as good people with the idea of service and duty to others as very important," he said.

Despite his reason, they were still criticized for their decision. However, the negative comments they received were not as much as what Prince Harry and Meghan got.

There are reports the difference between people's perception of Prince Harry and Prince William's moves may have something to do with their future roles. The father of three is the second in line to the throne and the future king, while Prince Charles' youngest son is sixth in line.

Hence, Prince William has a higher role than Prince Harry; this may be the reason why people favor him more. The public also thinks that he has all the right to demand the protection, safety, and privacy of his kids more than his younger brother.

Prince Harry and Megan also face public scrutiny for the cost of the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, their new home located on the Frogmore Estate. According to E! News, although this place is a part of the royal family's Home Park in Windsor, the Royal Park is administered by Crown Estate. Hence, it is neither government property nor the monarchy's private property.

The queen is not even the one that oversees its maintenance or management, but the Parliament. It funds the monarchy's official expenses through the Sovereign Grant. So, there are claims part of the annual grant money has been used to renovate Prince Harry and Meghan's house.
