Cobie Smulders wowed everyone in the premiere episode of Stumptown last week. As fans saw a different Smulders in this ABC detective show as a private investigator, named Dex, she would continue to surprise viewers with the new assignment she is about to take.
"Dex is hired by a wealthy man to search for a woman whom he recently met, but she quickly learns that the task is not as simple as it seems," Stumptown Episode 2 official synopsis read. "Meanwhile, Dex and Grey's (Jake Johnson) history unfolds."

There will be a right balance between the new case and character development to keep viewers on board.
According to CarterMatt, Stumptown is only a semi-procedural series. It has some elements that are different from other shows. It may be important for viewers to get invested to its story, but it is also essential for them to like the characters and settings to make them watch for more and wait for Stumptown Episode 2.
Its setting makes it different from the rest, as it is something that viewers don't often see on TV. It also has a compelling cast of characters, led by Smulders.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Smulders talked about her new series. As the show is set in Portland, a place that is not often used as a location on TV, the 37-year-old star was asked about its connection to Stumptown. She said there is a different look to the city. Despite the beautiful surrounding and lovely people, it has a lot of problems and still a dark place that they can use to show crimes differently.
She also said Stumptown is a great show and it will go in a much-unexpected way. People on and off the camera will do something different. Smulders is even excited that ABC is on board to do something wild in the series. She also assured fans it would be a pretty wild ride and is hoping they would continue to jump on board.
