Chicago P.D. Season 6 ended with a couple of major cliffhangers. With that, the new season had to address Antonio's (Jon Seda) absence and revealed who killed Kelton (John C. McGinley). The premiere episode perfectly answered these two mysteries, leading to the questions about the possibility of Seda's return.
Many suspected Voight (Jason Beghe) killed Kelton after he drove away from his house in the previous season finale. However, it was later revealed Kate (Anne Heche) was the real culprit. To clear his name, Voight would do everything to make her pay, per TVInsider.
Voight went to Kate and asked why she had to kill Kelton. As he had no evidence that Kate was the one that murdered Kelton, he might have a hard time to prove that she did so. "If you're going to take me down for murder, you better have more than a theory," she warned him.
Now that Chicago P.D. Season 7 had answered one of the major cliffhangers from the previous season, where is Antonio? Voight tasked Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) to look for Antonio. Ruzek found his home was a total mess and his car was at the house of his sponsor, who told him Antonio checked into a hospital.
The two were talking until the dawn. When Ruzek woke up, he was gone. With Seda's departure, it is a big question of how will the show wrap up his character's storyline. Although Chicago P.D. Season 7 premiere episode had explained Antonio's absence, it left a lot of unanswered questions, giving fans hope for the possible return of Seda, Pop Culture reported.
In the series, the talks about Antonio's whereabouts took a halt as the investigation about Kelton's murder intensified. However, it even turned out to be Voight's saving grace. Jay confronted him about the possibility that he had something to do on his death.
Voight couldn't tell the police the truth about his whereabouts when Kelton got murdered, as it would put Antonio's career in jeopardy. He then confessed to Jay that at the time, he met Antonio in bad shape that he had to bring him to an "off-the-books" clinic. The team managed to solve Kelton's murder case. After that, there were only little talks about Antonio.
Fans last saw Antonio taking some drugs in his car. Although there are no talks about his return, there is a big possibility he will make a comeback to reprise his role. Chicago P.D. Season 7 airs every Wednesday at 10/9c on NBC.
