Rumors have been circling around that Downton Abbey stars Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox have been planning a wedding at the very same castle where the PBS series was filmed. However, it appears that the story is just pure rumor and the couple has no plans to settle down anytime soon.

Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith Crawley in Downton Abbey, and her longtime boyfriend and co-star Fox (Andy Parker) are allegedly planning to tie the knot at the Highclere Castle. The majestic fortress is where all six seasons of the critically-acclaimed series were filmed.

Gossip Cop cited a story published by Globe, which claimed that the real-life couple has been planning a Highclere Castle wedding. The tabloid quoted an insider as saying that Carmichael and Fox have been telling their friends that the wedding will be in spring. The source also claimed that Carmichael has become friends with the castle owner and managed to get permission to hold her wedding at the estate.

Gossip Cop, however, noted that the estate has been offering a package for anyone who wants to rent the place for special occasions such as weddings. Gossip Cop said there is no need to pull strings since Highclere Castle has been advertising on its website that the place could be rented for nuptials.

The Globe source also claimed that all the cast and crew of Downton Abbey are among the 300-plus guests that are invited at the wedding. It added that Carmichael has been eyeing for a simple but modern wedding dress.

Gossip Cop reached out to Fox's representative, who insisted that the tabloid story is completely false. Carmichael and Fox have been dating for quite some time now but they are yet to be engaged which means a nuptial not on their priority list at the moment.

Meanwhile, Carmichael recently hit the red carpet for the special premiere of Downton Abbey movie in New York City. The film will hit cinemas on September 27.

The movie continues the Crawley family saga. The story will pick up about 18 months from where it was left off when the TV series wrapped up in 2015.

The series ended on New Year's Day in 1926 when Lady Edith Crawley finally marrying while Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Tom Branson (Allen Leech) helping the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) in running of the estate. The movie is set in 1927 at the time when Downton Abbey prepares for a royal visit from King George V and Queen Mary.
