In less than a week, the sixth and final season of Madam Secretary will finally arrive on small screens. It will feature new changes that will shift the series into a whole new dynamic.
Previous reports have claimed that Season 6 will be like a whole new show. As to how it will happen, fans will need to wait for its actual premiere.
The plot and setting will be the focal point of these changes. Alongside these aspects, the cast of Madam Secretary Season 6 is also revealed to have modifications.
Elizabeth will now enter her first term as the United States President. This means that almost all setting will move inside the White House. And to make this dynamic more realistic, new faces will be seen in the new season.
Recently, it has been revealed the newest addition to the cast. Linda Powell, who happens to be the daughter of Colin Powell, is chosen to be the newest FBI Director.
Executive producers, Barbara Hall and Lori McCreary shared, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that the rest of the producers did not know Linda Powell's powerful ties. She has been strictly chosen after she auditioned for the role. It is only after that they learned about her father, Colin Powell.
In 2018, former Secretary of the State Colin Powell joined the cast of Madam Secretary as a guest star together with Hilary Clinton. The episode has become one of the most iconic installments in the history of the series. Accordingly, fans are now more excited to witness Linda Powell's arrival on the show.
TV Line has also learned that Kevin Rahm, who plays Mike B., is now a series regular. So, fans can expect more of his "influence" on Elizabeth's course as the newest President of the State.
On the other hand, series regulars Sara Ramirez, Keith Carradine, Evan Roe, Kathrine Herzer, Geoffrey Arend, and Sebastian Arcelus will no longer have the same status. It is unclear yet if they will be playing recurring roles. Even so, they still might be seen in one of the ten episodes of Madam Secretary Season 6.
The first five seasons of the show housed more than 20 episodes per season. But, as it reaches its final course, it has been given a total of ten episodes to wrap everything up.
Having a much fewer number of episodes is challenging for the production. This, probably, is the reason why Season 6 will feel like it's a whole new show once it premieres.
Madam Secretary Season 6 will start to drop new episodes starting on October 6, on CBS.
