Billions season 5 is gearing up for a return to the set in New York. Production of the Showtime drama series, starring Damian Lewis (as Axe) and Paul Giamatti (as Chuck), is apparently going to take place from November 2019 until May 2020.
The production date has been confirmed via a casting notice for actors, models and other talents, which was posted on Project Casting. It specifically noted that the actors interested in auditioning for Billions season 5 should have the flexibility to be able to work on those said dates.
Given the production's timeline, it's fair to assume that Billions season 5 won't begin airing on Showtime until late the middle of spring next year. If so, then the new installment could follow the same release date schedule as the previous seasons.
In Billions season 4, Axe and his former protege Taylor (played by Asia Kate Dillon) became bitter rivals. Chuck, on the other hand, faced major challenges in his marriage and yet he still focused on strategizing to protect his interest, especially from his political opponents like U.S. Attorney Bryan Connerty (played by Toby Leonard Moore). Chuck's wife Wendy (played by Maggie Siff), on the other hand, has to be on the lookout for herself as the board reviews her medical license.
By the end of Billions season 4, Taylor returns to in Axe Capital after being recruited back by Axe. Unknown to the latter, however, it's all part of a big plan schemed by Chuck. Wendy can keep working thanks in part to big payoff by her friend Axe. But, what will this mean for her marriage to Chuck?
All these manipulations should lead to more tensions as Billions season 5 returns. Expectedly, things will heat up among these four main characters but can viewers expect a new arrival to tip the balance and shake things up?
Showrunners David Levien and Brian Koppelman told Entertainment Weekly that after Billions season 4 viewers might have a better understanding of the main characters now that exploring how this could change the dynamic of the story is what will keep Billions season 5 exciting. All eyes should be on Taylor next season as the character becomes an "incredibly formidable opponent."
Showtime has yet to announce or release a teaser to Billions season 5.
