The Blacklist Season 7 is about to hit the small screens, and NBC gives everyone a glimpse of what to come. By the looks of it, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins) is here to stay, and she will bring a great impact on Liz's (Megan Boone) life.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp revealed the new season would begin in a place where the audience would be in Reddington's (James Spader) shoes. Just like the criminal mastermind, viewers, too, would have a lot of questions from what would happen next to Katarina's real agenda, and how Reddington would manage to escape the situation.
Trying to find his way out from Katarina will be a hard thing to do, not just for Red but for Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) and the task force as well. So, why Dembe? Viewers will learn in The Blacklist Season 7 Dembe went with Reddington to Paris. Although Dembe would ask the task force for help, he had no idea what actually happened.
Unfortunately, as they are in Paris, the FBI does not have jurisdiction internationally and cannot ask for help to find Reddington, especially that he is a notorious, international criminal. Executive producer John Eisendrath, on the other hand, added from international to logistical and extradition obstacles, everything would get in their way to find Reddington.
If they ever managed to save Reddington in The Blacklist Season 7, the problems related to Katarina would not quickly end. Her arrival would affect Reddington and Liz's lives in "substantial ways." "She will have a deep impact on Liz and on everything that Liz believes in season 7," Eisendrath told EW.
Bokenkamp told TV Guide Katarina is probably the most "formidable and dangerous" blacklister today. She knows who Reddington is and has knowledge about his past. So, fans need to see why she abducts him and what she needs from him.
Reddington is said to hold the information Katarina needs, and she will do everything to get it. Bokenkamp even teased their scenes would reveal a window into the relationship they had in the past and their story.
Katarina will be around The Blacklist Season 7, and she may get dangerously close to her daughter. As Eisendrath revealed she would be the main antagonist this season, Liz would catch herself in a triangle between herself, Katarina, and Reddington. The new season is set to be out on Friday, Oct. 4, at 8/7c on NBC.
