When Paradise PD first arrived on Netflix, many were excited to see what Roger Black and Waco O'Guin have to offer again after their infamous material on Comedy Central. For fans of Brickleberry, the newly arrived comedy cop series is a hit. However, critics see things differently.
After "sitting through" ten episodes of "unfunny" and "dirty" jokes, Decider charges Netflix clients and viewers to "skip" Paradise PD. The publication also added that nothing much had been changed when comparing Brickleberry and the new cop material made by the same creators. This only goes to show the lack of originality and creativity, which makes the show a bad comedy cop series.
The first season of Paradise PD started with a quick background on Kevin, the central figure of the show. Since then, he always wanted to follow the footsteps of his father as the chief of police in their town, Paradise.
Things got weirder when he accidentally shot his father on his private part before making love with his wife. In the end, his parents separated.
Kevin's father blames him for the separation. But, he does not see his "misogynistic" attitude, which is likely the reason why his wife left him. All in all, Kevin grew up as a "loser" and got into the force because his mother became the Mayor of Paradise.
Basically, this is what happened in the first season. And even when Kevin joined the force, his character has not been seen to step up. All of the policemen are bad in a "crappy" way, which makes him one of the worst in the line of service.
Michigan Daily has shared a few opinions about the show. In the entirety of the piece, the publication believes that Paradise PD failed to meet the "standards" of a comedy cop series. Aside from the unfunny and unwitty jokes, it seemed that the show just copied everything from Brickleberry, from animation to voices. While it still performed better than Brickleberry, it does not mean that it's a good show.
With all of these notions at hand, many individuals were surprised when Netflix renewed the show for another season. However, no release date has been set yet.
Also, the number of episodes expanded. This made a lot of people think that it might be the end of the series. While no confirmation has been revealed if it will be the final run, Screen Rant asserted the possibility that it might already serve as the end for Paradise PD, especially if no redemption will be given to Kevin.
