BTS V is a global superstar, and his rankings in Russia's largest CIS chart for Korean artists are proof of his growing popularity in various parts of the world. V, also known as Kim Taehyung, is the highest-ranking individual artist in the list at No. 4.
A report by All Kpop cited that Deerzone, the largest news source about Korean entertainment, recently released the Top 100 largest fanbase for Autumn 2019 based on VK, Russia's largest social networking site with over 500 million accounts. It is also the 12th most visited website in the world.
BTS topped the Deerzone list with 471, 638 subscribers. They are trailed by EXO (340,966) and BLACKPINK (228,912) for second and third place.
While the Top 10 was mostly made up of idol groups, V was the only individual artist in the Top 5, surpassing the rank of GOT7. BTS' golden maknae Jungkook also made it to the Top 10 and entered the list at No. 6.
Based on the Deerzone Top 100, BTS V has the biggest solo idol fanbase in Russia and the biggest in the world for a solo act. V, who debuted in the chart only last year, has a subscription of 172,000, adding 3,768 subscriptions from last month alone.
All of the BTS members also made it to the Top 100 list with Jungkook (No. 6), Jimin (No. 13), Suga (No. 15), Jin (No. 21), J-Hope (No. 22) and RM (No. 31).
Stans of BTS V also celebrated his recognition in the list of Top 100 baritones in non-classical music. Kim Taehyung joins the likes of David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, who are icons in the music industry dominated by sopranos.
The description of his entry into the list cites observations by music reviewer Karen Ruffini of Elite Daily after she said that V has no problems producing soothing and low tones credited for bringing together the overall sound of BTS. Billboard's Tamar Herman also said that a wide range and deep tone produces a distinctive identity for BTS' sound as a whole, All Kpop reported.
Based on industry analysts, V's voice stands out in BTS arrangements because he can easily straddle the lower tenor range as well as cover the baritone parts of the lyrics. V's vocal range also spans Eb2 ~ D6 (3 octaves, 5 notes, and 1 semitone), which gives him the ability to hit high notes with ease.
For his fans, it will come as no surprise if Kim Taehyung continues to enter more lists and rise even more in the international scene because of his distinctive voice and unique charms.
