It's safe to say that Almost Family has prepared several surprises, as well as many different setbacks for viewers to keep watching. Perhaps, one of the most exciting things within this series is the difference between expectation and reality. While these characters share the same blood, they've gone through a lot of different experiences.
Meanwhile, since the series has just started, it's hard to predict its current standing -- particularly the show's ratings later on. But, the premiere episode generated a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This could be great, but then, the show beforehand, The Mask Singer, generated a 1.9 rating. Hence, Almost Family premiere episode lost about half of its lead-in.
This is not a good start for a show, and it would've been better if FOX could either air comedies or another reality game-show hybrid following their big hit. If ever Almost Family will generate similar ratings the rest of the way, it could still have a future. However, it's also worth remembering that most of the new shows usually fall about 15 percent from the first to the second week.
