Fans are now waiting for Blindspot Season 5 after the previous season finale's major cliffhanger. As this will be the final outing of the show, what will happen to the lives of Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and the rest of the cast after that tragic explosion? Here is everything we know so far.
In the previous season finale, a bomb went off where Jane, Weller, Reade (Rob Brown), Patterson (Ashley Johnson), and Zapata (Audrey Esparza) were located. As Jane was out of the cabin where the incident happened, she was deemed to be safe, while other's safety remained unknown. Will they survive the ordeal?
According to TV Season Spoilers, series creator Martin Gero revealed Blindspot Season 5 would have a two-month time gap. What happened on that fateful day would only be seen through flashbacks.
In case they all survived, Gero revealed there would be a great unity within the group, which was something that no one had seen before. The tragic event would also change their lives forever, as the different sides of their personalities would be revealed as the aftereffect of what happened.
Talking about the final season, Gero explained the series was originally eyed to run for only five seasons. Even from the beginning, he already knew how things would come to an end. However, Digital Spy noted everyone thought the show would be canceled after the several breaks the previous season had.
Hence, it was a surprise when NBC ordered for Blindspot Season 5. Undoubtedly, the show's lead cast will return for the final bow of the crime drama series, including Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton, who plays Kurt Weller. But, aside from the original characters, there will be new faces joining the show.
Julee Cerda will make her way to Blindspot Season 5 in a recurring role as Ivy Sand. However, NBC has yet to reveal further details about the 41-years-old character or what will she be doing in the series.
In the show, Alexander plays the role of Jane, a mysterious woman who has a body full of tattoo. She was found naked in a duffel bag in New York City, while all of her memory was erased. Now, she is working with the FBI team who found her. She, then, discovered that her tattoos are the clues to some unsolved crimes.
NBC has yet to announce when Blindspot Season 5 will be out; there are speculations that it will be released this month. The network's fall schedule, however, did not include the series on the list. Hence, there is a big possibility that the final installment will hit the small screens in the spring or early summer 2020 with all-new 13 episodes.
