Will BTS be the first KPop act to perform for the Grammys? Entertainment experts believe that it is not impossible given the landmark year that RM, J-Hope, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook has had this year.
In 2019, BTS was the first KPop act to present at the Grammy Awards, and fans are rooting for them to perform in next year's show or even pick up a nomination.
In an interview, BTS leader RM said that they are still reeling from many firsts this year, including following the footsteps of the Beatles as the only group who has charted three Number One albums in a single year. BTS also performed for SNL as the comedy show's musical guest.
RM said that having the first performance in the Grammys in 2020 would be a thrilling prospect for the members. But, in the meantime, they are only focusing hard on their music.
It seems that BTS is not far from the radar of the iconic award-giving body after its tremendous success around the world. A recent poll from Billboard has the group pegged as one of the top contenders to perform in the Grammys 2020.
In the poll, Billboard asks music fans whom they think will rule the stage in next year's Grammys show. The contenders are nothing to scoff at either since it includes Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Taylor Swift, Lizzo, and even newly minted KPop supergroup, SuperM. If the BTS ARMYs' performance in previous polls is any indication, BTS would be a shoo-in for the spot.
Apart from selling records and tickets to sold-out shows, BTS has had a pretty winning year in 2019. The group earned four wins in the recently held Teen Choice Awards 2019 for Choice Collaboration for Boy with Luv and Choice Summer Tour for BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself.
BTS also picked up the win in the MTV VMAs for the Best KPop and Best Group category, besting 5 Seconds of Summer, Backstreet Boys, BLACKPINK, CNCO, Jonas Brothers, PRETTYMUCH and Why Don't We.
For the Billboard Music Awards, they dominated the Best Social artist category as well as won for the Best Duo/Group category.
RM, J-Hope, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook seek to extend their winning streak as they picked up three nominations for MTV Europe Music Awards. They are pitted against top international acts for Best Collaboration, Best Live and Best Fans category, All Kpop reported.
