Monster Musume seems to be getting a chance of returning for another season. While fans are waiting for words for Monster Musume Season 2, author and illustrator Okayado is getting better after his hiatus while director Tatsuya Yoshihara is keeping himself busy with another anime TV series.
The TV adaptation of the anime series that follows the life of Japanese student Kimihito Kurusu has 12 episodes since it was first released in July 2015. Its studio, Lerche, released an additional original video animation (OVA) in 2016 and 2017. Since then, however, there has been no follow up to the TV adaptation of the Japanese manga series.
Fans of Monster Musume are becoming impatient, especially after director Tatsuya Yoshihara confirmed the release of the new season of Black Clover. The story of Asta and the Black Bulls will continue from where it ended in Black Clover Episode 103. Yoshihara helmed the new season, and he confirmed that more episodes are coming up for the Black Clover.
According to Monster and Critics, Yoshihara also revealed that each new cour would have a new opening theme song. A "cour" is a three-month unit of TV broadcasting that based on weather seasons. The ninth cour will have a new opening song, titled RiGHT NOW, by EMPiRE, and the new ending theme song will be "Life Is A Battlefield" by Kalen Anzai.
There have been speculations that the delay in the production of Monster Musume Season 2 is not because of Yoshihara working on another series but rather due to its author and illustrator Okayado's health. A year ago, Okayado announced on Twitter that he would take a break to focus on his mental health. He did not confirm his return on his tweet but promised to get better and focus on his recovery so he can resume his work.
So far, the manga series has 14 volumes. The most recent one was released in June 2018. This means Okayado hasn't written a new volume as of late. Hence, the expected Monster Musume Season 2 has no materials to be based on.
The good news is that Okayado seems to be doing well these days. In his recent tweet, Okayado hinted that he is getting better and probably also back in creating a new volume for Monster Musume. He admitted that he is now stress-free to the delight of his fans.
"Since I became an adult and I was clear about what I liked, I wasn't sure what I saw when I was a kid when I wasn't working out on anime and games. Honesty I think that I am completely fulfilled now because I have no stress," he tweeted recently.
