Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to file lawsuits against three British media outlets, recently, without apparently telling their family. Now, a royal correspondent has revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not getting any support from Prince Charles, Prince William and their royal aides.
Royal correspondent Richard Palmer posted on Twitter that the royal family and their aides are embarrassed by the actions of Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry against the press. Prince Harry's brother and father have also, reportedly, distanced themselves after they were not informed of the Sussex royals' decision to sue the tabloids, with Prince Harry even releasing an "inflammatory" statement regarding the lawsuits.
A follower, however, pointed out that it would be impossible for Queen Elizabeth to not know about Prince Harry's plans. Nor was it impossible for her not to throw her support for her grandson's battle against the press when she has been supportive of Prince Andrew's many mistakes. This negated the very idea that the royals do not support the Sussexes.
The fan also emphasized that if Her Majesty was not made aware of Prince Harry's lawsuits, it would look like the Queen doesn't have any control over what happens in her family. A report from Daily Express, however, stated that Prince Harry informed his grandmother as confirmed by Sara Latham, the Sussex royals communications secretary.
The news comes as Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry's name have been effectively removed from The Royal Foundation as two of the "principals," thereby further establishing Prince William's distance. They have also changed the name to The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, while the Sussexes have established their own charity organization, The Sussex Royal Foundation.
Prince William and Harry established The Royal Foundation in 2009, which was modified when Duchess Kate became part of the family in 2011. The split, initiated in 2018, has sparked talks of the royal brothers' rift, which supposedly sprung from Prince Harry's decision to marry a Hollywood actress.
Meanwhile, despite the bad press, Queen Elizabeth is reportedly impressed with Duchess Meghan and has earned much respect from Her Majesty for the success of the South African tour with Prince Harry. A source told US Weekly that Her Majesty was thrilled over Duchess Meghan upping her game and Prince Harry showing a more mature and responsible side to the world.
