NCIS: New Orleans season 6 episode 3 aired on Tuesday, October 8, titled "Bad Apple." Within this episode, Pride went to New York City after he found out that new DNA evidence is linked to a 20-year-old cold case from his past.

In NCIS: New Orleans season 6 episode 3, Pride saw Dr. Wade's friend as he believed that a neurologist could help him find out what's wrong with him. However, nothing's wrong with him, despite having realistic nightmares that made him scared to close his eyes every night. He's just in a peak condition, and he had to do something to avoid his nightmares.

That's why he went to the people from his old case when he dreams, but then, he ended up working on one of his old cases after being reopened. In NCIS: New Orleans season 6 episode 3, Pride once again worked the murder of Ashley Griffin, a teenager who went missing and found a few days later. Ashley's body was found next to the baseball bat that was used to kill her, which is a bad scene.

Pride wanted to find out why the case has been reopened. The chief suspect of Ashley's murder has been found due to a small fire in a neighborhood, in which the fire department went to an apartment to stop the fire. They eventually discovered a box hidden in the air vent, and the victim's underwear was in it.

Ashley's DNA was still on the garment. So, the local police called Pride as he had been on the case. Elliott Whitman became the main suspect, but the only evidence they have was an eyewitness who allegedly saw Witham following the victim the day she disappeared. Pride tried talking to Whitman, but he freaked out as the memories of what happened at the Sheriff's office were still raw for him.

Detective David Cabrera didn't want Pride to be anywhere near the case since he already messed it up before. Eventually, they found out that there is another murderer, like Whitman's partner. The team checked the suspect's past, and the only friend he ever made was back in high school -- Parker Lacey, an older student who used to mentor Whitman.

They have been in contact even after Lacey graduated. So, he's the only person who could help the suspect committing these murders. At first, they didn't know Lacey's whereabouts. But, since he's working in the energy department, he can use underground tunnels to escape.

Pride and his partner found Lacey, but he ran away and was hit by a vehicle and immediately died. He never even got the chance to confess everything, which could be potentially used against Whitman. But, Pride withheld the part about Lacey being dead and pretended he flipped on Whitman.

In the end, Whitman confessed everything and he even mentioned what he and Lacey did to Ashley. He said the reason why they killed the victim is that they hated his father, who was a dean at their school at that time. Pride was able to close this old case, and his partner seemed to be sticking around as he's likely interested in Pride's daughter, Laurel.
