It has been a truly long wait but the premiere date of Vikings Season 6 has finally been announced. In addition to that, the first trailer for the final season teases the arrival of the Rus people led by a terrifying new tyrant who has found an ally in Ivar the Boneless. Will Bjorn Ironside manage to keep Norway safe from these new invaders? And will Lagertha's peaceful new life be destroyed by a mysterious new enemy?
The first trailer for Vikings Season 6 was finally dropped by the History Channel and it opens with a shot of Bjorn Ironside looking more like his father Ragnar Lothbrok. However, the narrator doesn't seem very impressed with Bjorn's accomplishments. "I know your reputation and how many battles you have won, but still, you have no idea what you are now facing," the man tells the new King of Kattegat.
However, it is clear that Bjorn Ironside isn't just the King of Kattegat. At one point, he is chosen to become the King of Norway, something that doesn't seem to sit well with Harald Finehair. Nevertheless, it's a position that Bjorn needs to take if he wants to ensure the safety in the lands he rules.
The trailer offers a glimpse at the terrifying Prince Oleg of Novgorod, the Varangian prince who rules over the Rus people in Russia. Oleg is depicted as a bloodthirsty tyrant who wants to rule Scandinavia as well and he believes that Ivar the Boneless can help him defeat Bjorn Ironside.
Although Ivar the Boneless is hardly someone who could be easily threatened, Prince Oleg appears to be capable to convincing Ivar to take his side. And so the final season of Vikings will find the brothers once again having to face each other in battle.
While Ragnar Lothbrok's sons are once again fighting each other in Vikings Season 6, the final season of the History Channel series will show a side of Lagertha that fans haven't seen for a long time. Katheryn Winnick's character is determined to live out the rest of her life in peace as she tends to her farm. Unfortunately, a mysterious new enemy might make this impossible for the former shieldmaiden. Will Lagertha manage to survive to the end?
Can Bjorn Ironside defeat the villainous Prine Oleg of Novgorod and bring Ivar the Boneless back to serve Kattegat? Who is trying to kill Lagertha? Find out when Vikings Season 6 premieres with a two-hour special that will air on the History Channel on December 4.
