Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas said that Tottenham Hotspur had shown the greatest disappointment of the season. The former Arsenal player revealed that part of the reason for this devastating performance is because three players are desperate to leave the club. The team is currently sitting on the ninth place in the Premier League following a poor start, and it seems that Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are leaving the team when January transfer window comes.

Tottenham's future has been very uncertain after rumors about it's head coach Mauricio Pochettino leaving the team surfaced. The team has struggled to keep pace with the rest of the teams in the top six and is currently facing a stiff battle to acquire the Champions League in the coming season. Aside from that, the Spurs are also in a tough spot with its squad with three superstars desperate to leave camp in January.

Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld will be free players at the end of the season and fans feel that these players will leave the club instead of signing contract extensions. Tottenham Hotspur invested a massive amount during the summer transfer window in the amount of £102million to acquire Ryan Sessegnong, Tanguy Ndombele, and Ryan Clark. But, despite this, the results have not been outstanding or impressive, to say the least.

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas was very critical of Tottenham Hotspur and commented that its problems are down to the three players, namely Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld who want to leave the club. When asked about the biggest disappointment for this season, Nicholas revealed that it is Tottenham. He added that at the start of the season, it is anticipated that Liverpool and Manchester City will lead by a distance followed by Tottenham.

 

Nicholas said that Tottenham spent a lot of money, even sacrificed the stadium, held on to Mauricio Pochettino, and signed a lot of players. It was a statement that has dramatically fallen, said former Arsenal player. He also noted that Toby Alderwiereld and Jan Vertonghen used to be the best partners in the Premier League that has now become the worst because they want to leave the team by January.
