Kate Middleton and Prince William have gone on many tours as part of their royal duties. They are currently having much success in their Pakistan tour. However, there was a time when the Cambridge royals were "deeply angered" over an incident that turned into a scandal.
New Media reported that topless photos of Duchess Kate were published in the Closer magazine while she and Prince William were visiting France in 2012. They were staying at a family chateau ahead of their royal tour in Southeast Asia, at that time, but they didn't realize there were paparazzi taking their photos.
Prince William and Duchess Kate were not aware of the nature of pictures until it was published in the magazine. Though the images were pixelated, the magazine claimed that the woman in the photo, who had no bikini top, was Kate Middleton.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were saddened and hurt by the incident. However, they grew furious and deeply angry after finding out that Duchess Kate's topless photos were being offered to other publications. Prince William also said in his statement that what the press did was "particularly shocking" because it was similar to the harassment his mother, Princess Diana, experienced with the paparazzi, which led to her death.
As a result, the palace issued a statement saying that they have consulted lawyers as lines were crossed. Prince William and Kate Middleton, then, sued the publication and the French court sided with them in the decision. The publication was ordered to pay the damages and fines for the "unjustified intrusion" of Prince William and Duchess Kate's private times.
Meanwhile, Prince William and Duchess Kate's latest tour of Pakistan seems to be moving along successfully. On Wednesday, the Cambridge couple went to the mountainous regions of Pakistan to see the glaciers first hand and witness the impact of climate change.
The Cambridge royals also met with different people who led community initiatives to curb climate change and work with the changing landscape in the area. Their visit to this region is an attempt to shed light on the consequences of global warming, according to their spokesperson.
Earlier, Prince William and Kate Middleton met with Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was a friend of Princess Diana. Prince William relayed that he had memories of meeting the prime minister in the '90s. At that time, Khan was still years away from taking the highest post of office but apparently, Prince William remembered he was aiming to become the prime minister then. Duchess Kate lauded Khan for sticking with his plan.
