Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, make headlines due to their stature. As the wives of Prince William and Prince Harry, respectively, they cannot escape the media scrutiny as the public has always been interested in the British royals.

Fans on Quora, however, argue that Duchess Kate craved media attention more than Duchess Meghan. One commenter said that if Duchess Kate didn't want to be in the spotlight, then, she would not have waited ten years to become Prince William's wife. Instead, she was there in the sidelines to accompany him in some royal engagements and get photographed by the press.

Kate Middleton also had a bigger wedding than Meghan Markle. She and Prince William invited foreign dignitaries and politicians to their wedding ceremony in 2011, which drew a lot of media attention.

However, defenders of Duchess Kate said that she doesn't seek the attention of the media but she's aware she cannot be rid of it as the royals need exposure for their charity work and causes. Instead, Duchess Kate and Prince William work with the media by knowing precisely what details to share publicly or keep privately.

For instance, the Cambridge couple releases family photos and allows the press access to their family milestones. However, they keep some family time private as well. As a result, the press does not intrude on Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Meghan Markle, on the other hand, apparently loves the limelight because she was an actress before marrying Prince Harry. However, she might not have expected the kind of media scrutiny the royals receive, which is poles apart from her time as a TV star in America.

In a recent interview with Tom Bradby on ITV News, Duchess Meghan was almost in tears when the reporter asked how she's doing amidst all the bad press. Duchess Meghan replied that not many people had asked her if she's doing okay. She admitted, holding back the tears, that she's struggling behind the scenes.

Experts advised the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry to take a page from Kate Middleton and Prince William's relationship with the media. While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry can break tradition and set a precedent for a new type of royals, psychologist Bryony McLardy said that they should continue embracing some royal traditions and etiquette. This way, the public can see that the Sussex couple is taking their position as members of the royal family seriously while remaining true to their causes and advocacies.
