Kate Middleton and Prince William have done quite well in their royal tour of Pakistan this October and have highly likely pleased Queen Elizabeth, who was reportedly keeping tabs over the Cambridge couple. This trip paled in comparison to the duke and duchess' visit in Canada during their early years as a married couple, which reportedly enraged Prince Charles.

Royal biographer Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair that Duchess Kate and Prince William could receive a congratulatory letter from Queen Elizabeth after the success of their Pakistan tour. No royal has visited this Middle Eastern country in 13 years, but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge aced everything amid tight security.

The tour was aimed at bolstering U.K. and Pakistan relations and promote the latter as a tourism destination for British locals. Indeed, Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoyed their time playing the national sport, scaling the Hindu Kush mountains, wearing traditional Pakistan wardrobe, eating traditional Middle Eastern food, and riding a rickshaw to one of the receptions.

Kate Middleton and Prince William also visited some of the sites that welcomed Princess Diana in her visit in 1991, such as a children's hospital, and publicly acknowledged their host country for the wonderful visit. Sources said that Prince William behaved like his mother, the humanitarian, as he made sure the media entourage was alright after a worrying plane trouble.

Meanwhile, this wasn't quite the positive mood when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went on an 11-day trip to Canada in 2011. According to Daily Express, Prince Charles was so enraged at his son and daughter-in-law because their royal trip focused on themselves instead of promoting their objectives.

Apparently, Prince Charles was reportedly not pleased that Kate Middleton and Prince William hob-knobbed with celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, David Beckham, and Tom Hanks while in Canada and received plenty of media coverage for it. It came at the heels of their lavish wedding in Westminster Abbey.

Sources said at that time that Prince Charles was perhaps comparing his visit to Canada two years before with his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. It didn't have a lot of media coverage and attracted a smaller crowd than Kate Middleton and Prince William. Prince Charles, allegedly, felt that his eldest son overshadowed him just like his former wife, Princess Diana.
