Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has impressed a lot of people following the successful royal tour in Pakistan with Prince William. Aside from leaving the crowd stunned with her stylish wardrobe choices, Duchess Kate also emerged as a confident royal and a worthy representative of Queen Elizabeth.
According to The Sun columnist Lorraine Kelly, Kate Middleton was like the savior of the royals with her flawless public appearances in their various Pakistan engagements. She looked quite comfortable and at ease with her role that she managed to convey their objectives positively.
Amid the controversies surrounding the rest of the royal family, Duchess Kate has become "the Queen's top royal asset," the columnist wrote. Kelly also said that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and the wife of the heir apparent, Prince Charles, pales in comparison to their daughter-in-law. Therefore, Kate Middleton would make for a very effective monarch when the time comes, and Prince William becomes the King of England.
Duchess Kate's bright future in the royal family wasn't always this good. There was a time when Queen Elizabeth reportedly avoided being around her while she was still engaged to Prince William. Apparently, the Queen wasn't sure if Kate Middleton back then has what it takes to be supportive of future a king.
That all changed when Duchess Kate and Queen Elizabeth developed a closeness that endeared Prince William's wife to the monarch. So close are these two individuals today that body language expert Judy James said that Kate Middleton is one of the very few people who could make prolonged eye contact with Queen Elizabeth.
The Queen, who is often shy despite her stature, is also usually chatty when she is around Duchess Kate. Apparently, she loves that the duchess listens intently to her when they are beside each other.
According to Hello! Kate Middleton looks up to Queen Elizabeth with respect. In the documentary Our Queen at 90, Duchess Kate relayed that she didn't know what to gift Her Majesty. Eventually, she settled to make a marrow chutney from her own grandmother's recipe.
The duchess confessed she was slightly worried the Queen wouldn't like it, but she noticed that it was on the breakfast table the next day. It's these little gestures, she said, that made her see Queen Elizabeth as a caring and thoughtful person.
The relationship between these in-laws is cordial and good that Kate Middleton and Prince William named their second child, Princess Charlotte, after Queen Elizabeth.
