Arsenal team manager Unai Emery has admitted that Dani Ceballos, on loan to the Gunners from Real Madrid, has made good impressions but added that keeping the Spanish playmaker on the roster permanently is not a decision to be rushed. First, Emery said Ceballos would need to work harder.
Reports have indicated that Ceballos has asked Real to discuss with the Gunners the possibility of making his transfer permanent. The Spain international made the request when he was informed that Real manager Zinedine Zidane has no immediate plans to include him on the Spanish club's gameplay.
A permanent transfer will cost Arsenal no less than £30 million, but according to Emery, it's not his chief concern at the moment when it comes to the Ceballos transfer issue.
The focus right now is to help Ceballos gain further improvements and see how it will go for him playing with the team in Premier League. Emery said it's too early to decide on the question of the midfielder's permanent move to England.
"Ceballos is doing great things here, he is playing regularly. Of course I know he has a lot of potential and I think this is just the beginning. But always all the players need time to adapt to the Premier League. He's in that process and I really want to accelerate it," the Mirror reported the Gunners chief as saying.
At this stage, Emery thought that moving on permanently incorporating Ceballos is not the right time. He indicated its apparent that the playmaker is still in the process of adjustment, and he has a long way to go.
"He has had some good games, sometimes it's not been easy for him. We are trying to use that energy and enthusiasm reflected in the way we want to play," Emery explained.
The manager clarified that it would be unfair for Ceballos to make a decision on his future this early, noting that "we are only in October, still a long way to take that process."
It's more important to ensure that the young midfielder is provided the help he needs so he can fully develop and reach his full potential, Emery said, and per the report by Metro.
"The ultimate goal for me with Ceballos is that he can bring us all his potential and help us to achieve all our goals as a team, with more positive performances. We are more than happy to count on him," the Arsenal manager stressed.
Ceballos has made 11 appearances so far for the Gunners in the season, and it appeared that he enjoys the confidence of Emery, which is not the case with Zidane at Real Madrid. Yet as pointed out by the Gunners boss, the Spaniard has more work ahead of him as evident in the Arsenal games, where mostly he came up as a substitute.
