The struggles of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, as a royal under scrutiny in the media has brought on a "nightmare scenario" for her husband, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. He is said to be paying for her "unhappy life" when she's partly to blame for their predicament.
These words were the observations of Dominic Green of Spectator. He also wrote that Meghan Markle's complaints about life under the microscope as a royal were "short-sighted, hypocritical and entitled."
Green believes that Meghan's behavior reflected cruelty against Prince Harry and, to some extent, even Prince William. By telling the world of her feelings about the media in the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Meghan Markle has, apparently, reignited the brothers' trauma of Princess Diana's tell-all interview, where she revealed Prince Charles' affair to the public.
The royal observer also said that Sussex couple could have the privacy they wanted if they didn't make their lives public by signing up on social media and using the press to promote their causes. However, these were the choices they made and continue to make that complaining about it seemed duplicitous.
According to The Sun, Prince Harry changed after marrying Meghan in 2018. Prince Harry used to be a carefree man who was the popular and well-loved member of the royal family. He was the one who could get away with making the Queen laugh in public and messing around with the Obamas.
However, observers said that Prince Harry seemed "to have lost his way." His focus has shifted on protecting his wife from the negative press but his protective instincts are always on the alert because his wife regularly cries and complains about the bad press.
According to royal biographer Angela Levin, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are unable to cope with the demands and stress of their duties. As a result, they seemed to be miserable during their South African tour.
Levin also said that there's nothing the couple can do to help each other. However, they could at least listen to advice from the senior members of the family and their advisers.
The royal biographer was particularly referring to Meghan Markle who isn't used to following protocols and traditions and has been making her own choices for most of her life. Understandably, it could take a while for someone like her to get used to the rigid traditional path of royal life.
