Prince William was accused of being unfaithful to his wife, Kate Middleton. Early this year, he was linked to a neighbor and family friend, Rose Hanbury, and they allegedly carried on an affair while the Duchess of Cambridge was pregnant with Prince Louis.
However, a royal observer said in a discussion on Quora that the rumors have been unfounded. Prince William is, apparently, too smart to see what an affair can do to his marriage, as with what happened to his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
The fan went on to reveal that the woman Prince William, allegedly, had an affair with is "super flirty with all men." Hanbury is married to David Cholmondeley, a wealthy man and the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley.
Prior to the cheating rumors, the duchess and Hanbury were, reportedly, close friends. Kate would strike a good friendship with Hanbury because they live three miles next to each other and have similar backgrounds as mothers, per The Sun. The Hanbury-Cholmondeley were also at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.
Apparently, Kate and Handbury bonded over parenting and their love for organic food. The royal couple and their neighbors would also have dinner parties frequently.
Sources revealed that, when Kate found out about the affair, which Prince William reportedly denied to her. The duchess, allegedly, asked her husband to distance themselves from the Hanbury-Cholmondeley. In effect, Kate would also cut off her friendship with Hanbury and disallow her children to play with hers.
The source said that the neighbors, who were once quite close, are no longer hanging out together because of this major falling out. Prince William reportedly wanted to set things clear since they are neighbors but Kate has made it clear to him that the Hanbury-Cholmondeley have to be phased out of their social circle.
Though there was never any confirmation or denial from the palace, The Daily Beast cited that Prince William's lawyers served warnings to a British publication for its "false and highly damaging" story. Meanwhile, rumors also surfaced that the Handbury is struggling in her marriage, which could end in divorce.
After the news of the affairs hit the papers, there were also speculations that Prince William and Kate Middleton are only staying together because of Queen Elizabeth's orders. Her Majesty is, apparently, trying to avoid another scandal in the family.
