Meghan Markle, allegedly, faked her first pregnancy with Archie Harrison by wearing a prosthetic baby bump. Even now, as she and Prince Harry welcomed their first-born child Archie Harrison last May 6, royal fans continue to debate over whether or not she really got pregnant.
On Quora, fans have been exchanging opinions about Meghan Markle's alleged fake pregnancy. Speculations were that she and Prince Harry had a surrogate while Meghan showed off her fake baby bump in public, as someone who is often photographed in the media.
One commenter said that she's inclined to believe the Duchess of Sussex wore a fake baby bump because she's a "habitual liar" whose statements and behavior cannot be relied on. Meghan claimed before that she wasn't familiar with Prince Harry when they met, but she apparently owned several books about Princess Diana, the royal observer pointed out.
Another observer said that Meghan had a baby bump one day and gone the next day based on the photos from the media, so it seemed like she wore prosthetics. The birth certificate of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son also didn't have the signatures of the attending doctor when it was presented to the public.
However, a commenter argued that there was no reason for Meghan to fake her pregnancy when her child with Prince Harry will not have any claim to the throne. Why go to this trouble of orchestrating a risky ruse and get hospital people and palace staff to cooperate when they could have simply adopted a child if they were unable to conceive?
A royal fan also replied that haters would continue to make up and believe unfounded stories about the Duchess of Sussex because they want to tear her down. However, in putting out this conspiracy, the haters are actually painting Meghan as a woman with immense power and influence if she did have everyone around her go along with the plan to fool the public.
Speculations that the duchess didn't really get pregnant reeked of racism as well. Per Grazia Daily, two other popular persons accused of wearing a fake baby bump were Beyoncé and Serena Williams, Meghan's closest friend. This suggested that the public isn't familiar with dealing with the pregnancy news of women of color, especially in Britain. This also suggested an unconscious bias against pregnant women who aren't white.
Experts also said that the public's fascination with royal babies may have also spurred these incredible rumors of fake pregnancy. People throughout many high-profile pregnancies want to know every detail to the point that some can make up stories about it.
