In recent weeks, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dominated the headlines when it came to royal family news. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are, without a doubt, the most talked-about royals and they admitted in a documentary interview Harry & Meghan: An African Journey that they are having a hard time being under media attention.

Since the summer, the Sussex couple has been dealing with one controversy after another that it's starting to look like they are a troublesome royal pair for the palace. For their part, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle painted a picture that their privileged life as royals comes with a major downside with the constant scrutiny.

Things further escalated when Prince Harry announced that he was not backing down from the bullies, referring to the British tabloid media, as he filed lawsuits against three different media outlets. However, journalist Andrew Anthony wrote in his column that Prince Harry could very well avoid all of his troubles if he did one of two things -- become indifferent to the criticisms thrown against him and his wife or withdraw from public life and renounce his royal title for good.

Anthony also wrote that the relationship between the royals and the British press may be comparable to how a host depends on parasites. The royals need the media to cover their royal events, the birth of royal babies, and royal weddings. Otherwise, these aristocrats would become irrelevant in society.

Yet, the Queen may be the last of her kind to have her private and public life clearly defined in the media and thrive. But that era, especially in this social media age, has passed and to live in this new world is to have a "zen-like indifference to the speculation and criticism." If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cannot do this, Anthony urged that they might as well withdraw from the public eye.

Speculations that Prince Harry and Meghan might leave the royal family came to light after their emotional confession on television. Like Anthony, royal expert Victoria Arbiter said in an interview with Breakfast that they will not be OK unless they renounce their royal privileges.

Another royal expert, Richard Palmer, said in the podcast program Pod Save the Queen that he could see Prince Harry and Meghan renouncing, especially after Meghan said that they must be happy in what they are doing. Palmer thinks that the narrative has been laid out for the Sussexes to leave royal life as they now have a valid and justifiable reason to do so.
