It has been a strange week for Avengers: Endgame star Jeremy Renner, who is currently caught in a custody battle with his ex-wife over their six-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, things are getting more heated as Sonni Pacheco is now claiming that Renner had previously threatened to kill her before killing himself during an argument. Nevertheless, it looks like Disney and Marvel Studios are sticking with the Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation actor. A new report reveals that the studio will not recast the role of Clint Barton in the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Jeremy Renner has played Clint Barton in five Marvel Cinematic Universe films starting with an uncredited cameo in 2011's Thor. Back in July, it was confirmed that the Bourne Legacy star would reprise the role in a new TV series focusing on Hawkeye and his protege Kate Bishop. However, the recent scandal involving Renner's former partner also led to speculations that he would be removed from the project. On the other hand, it looks like Marvel Studios and Disney are taking Renner's side.

According to The Independent, the studio actually considered replacing Jeremy Renner in the Hawkeye series. However, both Marvel and Disney appear to have "decided against the idea" and are planning to "permit Renner to appear in future Marvel films." This would include the Disney+ series that is expected to begin production next year. This could mean that the studio bosses are confident that Renner will win the case.

Jeremy Renner was married to Sonni Pacheco in 2014, but the couple split up after one year of marriage. They are currently fighting over the custody of their daughter Ava. Pacheco's most recent custody filing include claims that Renner stuck a gun into his mouth and threatened to kill himself before firing at the ceiling. She also alleged that the MCU actor was often intoxicated and high on drugs throughout their relationship. Renner has since denied all claims and stated that Pacheco is an "unstable liar."

It is still unclear when Hawkeye will begin production since Jeremy Renner is the only cast member that has been confirmed for the new series. There are speculations that Bumblebee actress Hailee Stanfield is being offered the role of Kate Bishop, but the casting has not yet been announced. The Hawkeye series is expected to begin filming next year and will premiere on Disney+ in 2021.
