Although Prince William and Prince Harry never really discussed their alleged feud, it is quite easy to spot that something is going on between the royal brothers. The sons of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana had always been close since they were little boys. However, they’ve been cold towards each other for quite a while now.
It was, previously, reported that the rift may have started when Prince William advised his younger brother to slow down, referring to his romance with Meghan Markle. Unfortunately, Prince Harry didn’t take the suggestion well and the beef began.
As expected, people blamed Meghan Markle for the fallout of Prince William and Prince Harry. However, royal commentator Angela Mollard noted that the public should not put all the blame on the Duchess of Sussex, as the younger prince’s “reactive” attitude may have been a huge part of their rift.
“Clearly what’s happened, Harry in the same way as he is quite reactive with the press and quite reactive in certain situations was probably very reactive with William and doubtless went back to Meghan and said ‘you won’t believe what William said to me,’” Angela Mollard said. “Instead of seeing it as a well-meaning and caring inquiry, they both have obviously got their backs up and now there’s friction between them.”
According to the royal commentator, Prince William meant nothing but good things when he told Prince Harry to slow down. The Duke of Cambridge knew how important it is to know who you’ll marry first before tying the knot as their own mother, Princess Diana, was convinced that her marriage with Prince Charles would have been successful if they started as friends.
Prince William and Kate Middleton had been together for a couple of years before saying their “I dos” in 2011. The Duke of Cambridge probably wanted Prince Harry to have a stable relationship as well and didn’t want him to rush things like their parents. But like mentioned earlier, the Duke of Sussex took her brother’s words offensively.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry finally addressed all the rumors about his and Prince William’s alleged fallout in the documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. “Part of this role and part of this job and part of this family being under the pressure that it’s under, inevitably, stuff happens,” he said. “But look, we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers — and we’re certainly on different paths at the moment. But I’ll certainly always be there for him as I know he’ll always be there for me.”
