Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have disappointed Queen Elizabeth with their attitude. This was a revelation from inside the palace after the Sussex royals complained about their life under media scrutiny in the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.
According to Daily Express reporter Richard Palmer, several sources have indicated that no one in the royal family or household supports what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did. The couple revealed in a televised interview that the struggle of being under the limelight had affected their mental health.
Palmer went on to say that royal aides are even embarrassed by the actions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. People around the couple, even Prince William and Prince Charles, have been distancing themselves from Prince Harry and Meghan.
As a result, a photo of the Sussex couple has been booted out of its special place in Queen Elizabeth's console at Buckingham Palace. Reports showed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement photo was on display last summer, next to Prince William and Kate Middleton's photo, but it was conspicuously gone when the Queen received an audience last Oct. 22.
According to Cosmopolitan, the Queen's aides might have taken the photo out with respects to Prince Harry and Meghan's privacy amid the controversies hounding them. It's also not the first instance Queen Elizabeth's table at Buckingham changed photos on display.
Despite her alleged disappointment for her grandchildren, Queen Elizabeth is still reportedly concerned over the state of their mental health. Prince Harry revealed in the documentary that he thought he's out of the woods in managing his mental health issues, but it all came back to him with this current battle with the British tabloid press.
According to Kate Nicholson, the royal household has worried over Prince Harry's state before and it caused the Queen some heartaches. When Prince Harry was about to leave military service in 2015, he, apparently, wrote a letter to his grandmother. Whatever was in that letter had the Queen order the Chief Marshall to look out for her grandson.
There were concerns that the Duke of Sussex would "go off the rails" once he leaves the service because he will not be preoccupied. Prince Harry himself admitted that he's the type who needs something "to keep ticking along," so his life has some balance. Royal experts said that leaving the military placed Prince Harry at a crossroads, and it took him a while to move on from it.
