Mesut Ozil has been mostly scarce for Arsenal in the season, and nothing much has been heard from the German World Cup winner on the matter. However, a friend provided confirmation on what everyone suspects - that the prized playmaker is unhappy with the way things are going under Unai Emery.

The midfielder showcased the quality football that he can deliver when the Gunners faced Liverpool on Wednesday. The match ended in a penalty shootout that favored the home team, yet it proved that Arsenal was missing out in allowing Ozil's talent to be wasted on the sideline.

The game with Liverpool was only the German's second for the season, Metro reported. According to the Arsenal boss, Ozil must work harder to get back to first-team status.

That was exactly what the midfielder has been doing along, per teammate Sead Kolasinac, who revealed his friend trains hard minus the assurance he will make it on the pitch. Kolasinac added his friend is unhappy with the circumstances at Arsenal.

"He is a bit unhappy at the minute but you would never see that in his training. He is doing everything he can. He is doing extra sessions to make sure he is at the level he needs to be," the Evening Standard reported the Bosnian defender as saying.

Still, Kolasinac maintained that while Ozil doesn't seem to enjoy the confidence of the Gunners manager, the German remains "a really driven player."

"Mesut is Mesut. He has got a lot of special qualities," Kolasinac declared.

There is little doubt that Ozil belongs to the league of the best players in Europe, and it remains a mystery why Emery has made the playmaker an outcast. That was the same question that bothers Kolasinac.

"Everyone knows the quality he has, we have seen it. He is one of the top players in Europe and I think he can achieve a lot and really help the team further when he's back," he added.

For instance, Kolasinac said that a player with the caliber of Ozil would certainly make an impact on any game. The German will force the opponent to make adjustments that will be favorable to Arsenal.

"The opposing team might put two players on him rather than one, which creates a lot of space for others. That makes a real difference on the pitch and in the game," the Bosnian explained, and according to The Daily Mirror.

Reports said Emery is feeling the heat on the Ozil controversy. Arsenal is not exactly in a comfortable situation right now in the Premier League, but many are puzzled about why he is hesitant to make use of a quality player like Ozil, who also happens to be the club's most expensive member.
