Jose Mourinho was sacked by the Manchester United board December last year, but the fact remains he won the Europa League for the club. The Portuguese also boasts of Premier League trophies for Chelsea, and apparently, he's looking to take home another major victory as team manager for another English club.

The goal of three championship titles by Mourinho could be realized soon as the former United boss is tipped to take over from either Arsenal or Tottenham, The Sun reported.

Unai Emery is under intense pressure to make life easier for the Gunners, and in the absence of a turnaround soon, the Spaniard could be shown the exit door. Reports said Mourinho is being lined up to take the helm at the Emirates in case the Gunners opted for a quick change of leadership.

"The organization and leadership the 56-year-old brings are exactly the qualities the Gunners are crying out for, with Emery looking as though he has done nothing to improve on the weaknesses left at the end of Arsene Wenger's reign," added The Sun report.

However, Metro has said in a report that Emery's departure, if it will happen, is not seen until the end of the current season.

So the most realistic opening for Mourinho is the job that at present is occupied by Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine is in charge of Tottenham, but if the rumors prove correct, he will soon bump off Zinedine Zidane or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from their respective positions.

Supposedly, Pochettino is the preferred replacement should United decided to sack Solskjaer. The same applies to Real Madrid's Zidane.

A return to Premier League will pave the way for Mourinho to immortalize his name as scoring at least a major title under Arsenal or Tottenham will give him the distinction of the only English team manager with championship trophies in three different clubs.

Since his exit from Old Trafford last year, the Portuguese has deliberately shunned offers to take on jobs, purportedly to keep his mission on track. In addition, Mourinho has taken residence in London and has stated that English football appeals to him the most.

Pundits said these indicators from the former United boss pointed to his preference of replacing Emery from the North London-based Arsenal.

If successful, The Daily Mirror said Mourinho will eclipse the team management achievements registered by Brian Clough and Kenny Dalglish. Both have the honors of capturing two major wins for two different English clubs.
