There is more to Mesut Ozil being forced to skip Arsenal games apart from the explanation by Gunners' boss Unai Emery that the German is not a first-team material. Reports said close associates of the former Real Madrid midfielder are convinced Emery wants Ozil out of the Emirates.

Citing people with direct access to Ozil, Metro reported that "the Arsenal coach wants the playmaker to hand in a transfer request."

The report added the playmaker is being "unfairly ostracized," as evidenced by Emery's to leave him out of Arsenal's matches. So far in the current season, Ozil only appeared twice and came in only as a substitute.

His situation is an extension of the policy that the Spanish manager has started in the last season.

While Emery has previously stated that his decision to sideline Ozil has the blessing of the Gunners board, it was unclear why the German has become an outcast from the manager's game plan.

Reports said it could be that Ozil is being offloaded due to his salary of £350,000 per week, which made him the most expensive member of the Gunners roster. There were suggestions that due to his expensive price tag, no club will want to make a move on the midfielder, so Arsenal is somehow forcing him to make the transfer request.

The Metro report, however, did not include official comments from parties. On his part, Emery has been adamant in avoiding to discuss anything about Ozil.

Meanwhile, United legend Paul Scholes is seeing an opportunity for the Red Devils on the case of Ozil. It seemed the German is unwanted by Arsenal, so United can pick him.

In any case, transferring to another English club is in line with the reports that the footballer will want to stay in the Premier League. A jump to Old Trafford should be something to his taste.

The Sun said Scholes is all-in for the Reds to consider getting Ozil, which the former Reds has described as "a player who can link a team together."

"I think he's got great quality, he's shown that in his career. He could be an answer short term, I don't know ... I think he's the type of player, short term, that Manchester United could do with," Scholes was reported as saying.

However, for Ozil to strike a deal with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the German will need to make adjustments like agreeing to a pay cut.

If Solskjaer can get Ozil out of Arsenal, the latter can be the quick answer to United's immediate needs as the German is known for making things happen on the pitch.

"While Ozil is the sort of player who can drift in and out of matches, his ability to carve open defenses and make something out of nothing is certainly something United need," The Sun said in its report.
