Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly looking at potential 2020 summer recruits from Ligue 1 to bolster Manchester United's strike force. On the hunt radar of the Red Devils boss are Moussa Dembele and Boubakary Soumare, two potential hires that will add firepower to the English club's scoring capabilities.
Currently, on the Lille roster, Soumare has been on United's scope for some time and is a feasible transfer target as his contract is set to expire summer next year. The Daily Mail said the Reds would likely have to deal with stiff competition in trying to bring the 20-year-old striker to Old Trafford, adding a number of Premier League clubs have expressed interest to hire the Frenchman.
In 2017, Soumare jumped from Paris Saint-Germain to his present team and had made at least 40 appearances since then.
The midfielder is touted as United's bet in the event Paul Pogba heads to the exit door soon. According to Metro, Pogba is rumored to be toying with the idea of transferring to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
If the near future Pogba demands a move out of Old Trafford, Soumare will be groomed to take his place.
Another possible summer addition for United is Dembele, who currently is making waves with Lyons. He only joined the club last year but already scored 26 goals in 56 appearances. So it's unsurprising that Dembele is a target too by United rivals in the Premier League.
Solskjaer bringing over Soumare to the Reds side will cost the club at least £30 million, the price paid by Lille when the footballer was acquired from PSG. It's still unknown how much exactly Dembele will cost United.
It was clear, though, that the struggling Red Devils are ready to spend if only to improve its dismal standing on the league. The United boss has already indicated that he has the clearance from the club board to beef up the roster, and he will spend money on worthy recruits.
In the past summer, £150 million were used from the coffers to hire Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Daniel James, but Solskjaer has already indicated he needs more creative talents on the goal-scoring side of the club.
To that end, the Reds were reported to be nearing a deal with Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic, who reportedly is in the middle of negotiations with United. The Croatian has also agreed to take a sizeable pay cut to make his transfer from Italy to England a little easier.
