Royal protocols are very important to the monarchy. While some of these rules may appear as "strange" and absurd for some, members of the royal family still need to follow them.
As per experts, the protocols and rules are mainly the factors that separate the royals from the commoners. So, even if some would find these rules funny and nonsense, for the members of the royal family, they are a must.
According to Cheat Sheet, one of the most surprising royal protocols today is the fact that some of the common British words are banned by Queen Elizabeth II and the palace. As it happens, no one from the family may ever speak of these words. The reason behind is because some of these words are "rude" and inappropriate.
Some of the words that can be rude to hear, as per royal experts, include "pardon," "toilet," and "posh." Instead of using these words, royals are said to utilize "sorry," "lavatory," and "smart."
For some reason, saying pardon, just like most British people, is considered to be rude by Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the royal family. The same is also true for posh as for the royals, it is much appropriate to describe someone as smart than posh.
Aside from these words, members of the royal family are also not fond of saying "lounge," "perfume," "patio," and "portion." As per sources, these words are believed to be quite common. So, instead of using them, royals would rather say "drawing room" or "sitting room," "scent," "terrace," and "helping size."
Surprisingly, "tea" and "dessert" are also banned inside royal palaces. While the common perception is that every royal is "addicted" to tea time and dessert, they cannot use these words for some reason. Instead, they are only allowed to use "supper time" or "dinner time" for tea time, and "pudding" for dessert, even if they are not actual pudding.
Express UK also released a similar headline. As per the publication, there is one word, aside from all the given words above, that is found to be "vulgar" by Queen Elizabeth II. It was also stated that the queen does not allow anyone inside the palace to speak this word: "pregnant."
Quite shockingly, reports claimed that Queen Elizabeth II does not want to hear this word, especially from the members of the royal family. Instead of saying the word, "pregnant," royals are reportedly asked to use, "in the family way."
